Event 174 – Converter DC Link Voltage Low/Reverse

Event Description

The measured DC link voltage on the power converter is too low or negative (reverse polarity).

  • The DC link voltage is too low if it is below the set voltage or below the expected system voltage.
  • The error is triggered by the converter control unit, which is part of the Power Electronic Unit.

The power converter is the power electronics unit that converts the generator voltage into the voltage required by the user system (e.g. inverter, rectifier or DC/DC converter).
The DC link voltage is the voltage on high voltage electrolytic or polymer DC capacitors.

Measurement lines in the power electronics are not connected, mixed up or defective.Check the measurement lines for correct connection and for defects.
A negative voltage was applied to the DC connections (reverse polarity). Note: In case of electrolytic capacitors, this can destroy the power electronics.Pay attention to correct polarity.
The voltage breaks down caused by a short circuit or high load.Check for short circuits and fix them if necessary.
In case of high load reduce the load.
