In the fpControl system, the fpCAN is used for the communication between the system components.
The fpCAN is based on the SAE J1939 standard and uses CAN (Controller Area Network) as the physical layer.
The fpCAN uses the PGNs (Parameter Group Numbers) of SAE J1939 relevant for generators and a set of proprietary PGNs.

Environmental specifications and physical data
Bus voltage | 12 V oder 24 V, Automotive (12–13,5 V oder 24–28 V) |
Data transfer rate | 250 kbps (kilobits per second) |
Maximum cable length | 40 m at 250 kbps and up to 30 nodes |
Maximum bus current | limited to 800 mA |
![]() The maximum number of modules on the fpCAN is limited by the maximum bus current. The sum of the nominal current consumption of all bus participants must not exceed the maximum bus current. The number of bus participants thus depends directly on the type and number of different modules on the fpCAN. |
Accessories
