In the fpControl system, the fpCAN is used for the communication between the system components.
The fpCAN is based on the SAE J1939 standard and uses CAN (Controller Area Network) as the physical layer.
The fpCAN uses the PGNs (Parameter Group Numbers) of SAE J1939 relevant for generators and a set of proprietary PGNs.

The maximum number of modules on the fpCAN is limited by the maximum bus current. The sum of the nominal current consumption of all bus participants must not exceed the maximum bus current. The number of bus participants thus depends directly on the type and number of different modules on the fpCAN.
fpCAN patch cable
Available in different length. With a data transfer rate of 250 kbps and up to 30 nodes, the maximum cable length is 40 meters.

Exclusively the red fpCAN patch cables approved by Fischer Panda may be used on the fpCAN (red RJ45 twisted pair cable).
The ends of the fpCAN network must be terminated with a 120 ohm resistor.
