Causes and solutions
The diesel engine is not cooled sufficiently. This can have different causes:
| Common causes | Possible solutions |
| Air in the cooling system | Bleed the cooling system |
| Not enough cooling water in the cooling system, maybe the cooling system is leaky | Check the cooling system for possible leaks and close if necessary. Also check the cooling water pump and the water-cooled silencer for leaks. |
| The impeller in the impeller pump is defective (with marine generators only) | Check the impeller pump |
| The V-belt is defective | Check if the V-belt is cracked. If not, check if the V-belt still has enough tension |
| The fan is defective, maybe a fan blade is jammed (with vehicle generators only) | Check the function of the fan and the condition of its fan blades |
| A blocked or dirty heat exchanger can cause an overheating | Check the heat exchanger and clean it if necessary |
| Temperature sensor not present, loose contact, cable break | – Connect the temperature sensor, – Check the plug connection for loose contact, – Check the wiring of the sensor for cable breaks |
