Introduction to the topic
The »Communication Interface AGT – NMEA 2000®« is a gateway for integrating fpCAN-equipped Fischer Panda AGT DC Generators with an NMEA 2000® network. The »Communication Interface AGT – NMEA 2000®« converts fpCAN messages to NMEA 2000® messages so you can monitor your Fischer Panda AGT DC Generator with NMEA 2000® displays.
The »Communication Interface AGT – NMEA 2000®« is certified by NMEA 2000® (https://www.nmea.org):
NMEA 2000® Product Certificate for the »Communication Interface AGT«
Fischer Panda part number: 0031409

A detailed documentation of the NMEA 2000® PGNs has to be bought from the NMEA website.
![]() Different multifunction displays show different subsets of the transmitted data. The »Communication Interface AGT – NMEA 2000®« reports itself as an AGT DC Generator. Check your multifunction display concerning its supported PGNs. |
![]() The PGN fields transmit all data available for the generator. So with some generators not all fields (SPNs) contain valid data, for example, for the oil pressure. |
Supported J1939 PGNs
| J1939 PGN Name | J1939 PGN # |

Fischer Panda generators that can be connected to the NMEA2000 network
All Fischer Panda AGT DC Generators that come with xControl or fpControl can be connected to an NMEA 2000® network using the »Communication Interface AGT – NMEA 2000®«.
Connecting the »Communication Interface AGT – NMEA 2000®«
Connect the Communication Interface with the five pin Micro-C male connector to the NMEA 2000® network.

Changing the NMEA Device Instance (ISO ECU Instance)
See NMEA 2000 Settings for a detailed description.
Starting the generator via NMEA 2000®
Firmware-Version > V2.11
Giving / Revoking Clearance for controlling the Generator:
- Use the PGN 126208 to access the PGN 127512 (AGS Configuration Status) in command mode.
- Specify the field 3 (»AGS-Mode«) in the request: 1 – on, any other value – off.
Starting / Stopping the Generator:
- Use the PGN 126208 to access the PGN 127514 (AGS Status) in command mode.
- Specify the field 5 (»Generator On Reason«) in the request to 0x08 (»external on via AGS«) to initiate start (0x05 still works to keep backwards-compatibility).
- Specify the field 6 (»Generator On Reason«) in the request to 0x0c (»external off via AGS«) to stop again (0x07 still works to keep backwards-compatibility).
